Welcome to Bikram Yoga Larchmont!
Begin your yoga journey to transform your body and mind
Bikram Yoga is a series of 26 postures "asanas" performed in
a heated room designed by Bikram Choudhury, which allows the body to become more warm, pliable and
relaxed. This provides for deeper stretching, the release of neuromuscular
tensions in the body, and detoxification of your entire system. Each posture
is done in a specific sequence and is sequentially designed to scientifically
warm and stretch muscles, ligaments and tendons in the order in which
they should be stretched. The Bikram method will also stimulate the organs,
glands, and nerves, moving fresh oxygenated blood to 100 percent of your
body, restoring all body systems to a healthy working order.
In Bikram Yoga, we move posture-to-posture, learning to incorporate breath
(pranayama) into each movement so that we can reach a deeper level of
stretching through conscious stillness. A Shaolin Monk once said "Breathing
is an internal exercise the movement of energy or chi throughout
your whole body."
You will realize a magical moment when biomechanically you feel a state
of relaxed awareness utilizing the 3 primary aspects of Bikram Yoga: Breathing,
Freezing/Holding the postures and Savasana (relaxation).
You'll notice even after a few classes a dramatic increase in your flexibility,
strength and stamina from your fingertips to your toes. By incorporating
Bikram Yoga into your health regimen, you'll notice many physical and
mental benefits such as: preventing chronic illnesses, reducing stress,
weight loss, increasing your energy levels and the list goes on! Overall,
Bikram Yoga's objective is to enhance the complete wellness of your life.
